Recognizing Early Signs of Illness in Cats
Cats often develop chronic, long-term illnesses as they age, and they are experts at hiding discomfort. Very thirsty kitties and weight loss are often early signs of illness. Rough, ungroomed haircoats can also be an early indication that your kitty is not feeling well.
These symptoms can result from kidney disease, urinary infections, pancreatitis, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid glands), diabetes, hypertension or high blood pressure, inflammatory bowel disease, and gum disease. These conditions can be detected with wellness testing and health exams. In addition, according to some cardiologists, 15% of cats have heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which can be diagnosed with screening tests and ultrasound. Quality of life improves when these chronic conditions are recognized and treated.

Our feline services include wellness exams, kitten and senior care, blood and urine testing, blood pressure screening, ECG, ultrasound, spay and neuter surgery, and dental care for conditions like feline resorptive lesions. Every elective surgery includes anesthesia, careful monitoring, and an overnight stay with at least twice-daily evaluation.
